Reunion, Declo, Idaho 2002
My cousin's son tried out on American Idol tonight. His name is Kai Kalama. They had a story about Jamie (my cousin) and I about had a heart attack when I realized it was her. I haven't seen her for about six years. She has since gone very gray and lost a lot of weight. Evidently, she is ill. Kai really badly wants to win so he can buy her a house. I have a Christmas card of Jamie and her ex-husband, and her two sons, Kai and Ryan. Also, we had a family reunion in Tremonton several years ago and they performed for us. The boys have been in a band for many years.

Thanks for the heads up, Dad! It was fun to watch Kai tonight. Too bad Jamie is ill! She looks VERY different. Good luck to Kai in the next rounds. Hopefully he'll lose his "cruise ship performance" as the judges said. (Though all 4 judges agreed he had a great voice.)
